Custom-built machinery, system solutions, and retrofits —
all from a single source
Not every task can be solved with a standard machine. When off-the-shelf solutions reach their limits, our engineers develop customized concepts, ranging from complete custom-built machines to turnkey system solutions. We have many years of experience in designing custom systems that are trusted by leading manufacturers worldwide.

And because high-quality machines are built to last, we also modernize and expand existing systems—regardless of the manufacturer—and tailor them precisely to your requirements. This allows you to get more out of your production without having to invest in an entirely new system.

Our Approach

For your custom machine, we rely on proven components—from axis modules and machining units to automation modules. Each component has been proven individually and is combined to meet your specific needs, ensuring high availability even for custom-built systems.
Whether it’s a single machine or a complete production line, we deliver your system turnkey, with the flexibility of a custom solution and the reliability of proven technology.

Custom machines

If no standard machine meets your needs, we’ll design your system from the ground up. From concept development and material flow layout to the control system design, we create a solution that is precisely tailored to your product and process, thoughtfully engineered with mechatronics, and built to last.

System solutions

All AST machines are also available as turnkey system solutions, customized to meet your specific requirements. Do you need to process different workpieces on the same machine? Would you like to expand your production in stages? Our flexible systems combine high machine availability with maximum flexibility through hybrid configurations featuring assembly modules, NC tables, or robots.

System upgrades

Requirements change. With AST, your system grows with you. Whether it’s new products, higher production volumes, or modified processes: We expand your existing machine with additional stations, processes, or capacity—exactly when you need it. This allows you to remain flexible without having to invest in an entirely new system.

System retrofits

Good machines last for decades, but their control systems don’t always do the same. With a retrofit, we can cost-effectively bring your system up to date: modern controls, state-of-the-art safety technology, and higher uptime. This extends the service life of your machine, regardless of the manufacturer and without the cost of a new purchase.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

Which control system is used for modernization?

Typically a current Siemens control system. This brings the system up to the latest automation and safety standard and makes it ready for networked production.

Can machines from other manufacturers also be modernized?

Yes. Our retrofit is manufacturer-independent. We analyze the machine, plan the appropriate measures and implement them reliably, regardless of who originally built the system.

Is a retrofit worthwhile compared to a new purchase?

Usually yes. As long as the mechanics are intact, a retrofit brings the system economically up to the latest standard, with modern controls, current safety technology and higher availability. This saves you the cost of a new investment and extends the machine's service life.

Can AST machines only process connecting rods?

No. As an individual system solution, we handle the machining of the most varied components, from gearbox and clutch housings through cylinder heads to steering knuckles. On request, several workpiece types even run on the same system.

Can complete production lines be supplied as well?

Yes. Whether a single machine or a complete line: we deliver turnkey, from engineering and design through to commissioning. You receive a ready-to-operate system from a single source.

What distinguishes a special-purpose machine from a standard system?

A special-purpose machine is tailored precisely to your task, exactly where standard solutions reach their limits. We rely on proven assemblies and combine them individually, giving you maximum flexibility together with high availability.
